Starting January 1, 2023, The Hawaiʻi Teacher Standards Board (HTSB) will notify teachers whose Standard and Advanced licenses expire in 2023 that they have until June 30 to complete the renewal process.
Teachers have between Jan. 1 and June 30 to renew their licenses if they expire during that calendar year. Educators do not have to pay to renew their licenses, thanks to funding provided by the Hawaiʻi State Legislature.
Please note: Permits and provisional licenses are non-renewable. Teachers can apply for a new permit or provisional license after their current one expires. Provisional license holders can apply to convert their licenses to a standard license if they have completed three full years of teaching in Hawaii or another U.S. state, by June 30, 2023.
HTSB encourages teachers to renew their licenses prior to June 30, 2023. All applications will be processed in the order they are received.
